Will our Council stand up to the Trump Blitzkreig? (No seems to be the answer)

The Formartine Area Committee made a bit of a muddle of it - the discussion was abruptly curtailed, and all in all it was not a very convincing result.

The Infrastructure Services Committee considered the application in more depth and with a better understanding of the issues, and to the surprise of many, voted to either reject the application in totality, or to accept it if the SSSI was left alone.

I am proud of the councillors who were prepared to risk unpopularity and vote for their principles and for the best (as they saw it) for the North East.

They have received a tirade of abuse, largely orchestrated it would appear by the local press. The councillors are supposed to make their decisions without 'fear or favour' and should not be vilified for doing what they believed to be right.

The behaviour of the Council leaders has in the whole been despicable. Instead of supporting their colleagues they belittled them (and have now it seems hounded Martin Ford from his council positions).

MPs and MSPs who intervened without having full knowledge of the issues under debate have shown themselves in a poor light.
